Evacuation from Azovstal plant

In late April, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Kyiv. Among the topics he discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal in Mariupol. According to him, as of today, there is progress in negotiations with Russia on the organization of a special corridor, which will be coordinated by the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The people who will be responsible for this have already left for Zaporizhia to organize it.

Airstrike, missile and MRL damage

  • Russian forces fired 5 missiles on the city. One of them hit the infrastructure — presumably, the Artema machinery plant. THe second missile hit the multi-storey residential building in Shevchenkivskyi district. As a result, the targets were partially destroyed, the surrounding buildings had their windows smashed out, the cladding was damaged, the parked and passing cars were damaged as well. Ten people were hurt, four of them — hospitalized. The Radio Free journalist died. Another missile was shot down. António Guterres, the UN General secretary, was paing the official visit during the strike.

  • Russian forces made a strike on the village, ~30 houses and a school were damaged and destroyed. One of the buildings with people inside collapsed: 2 people died, another 8 were injured.
  • Russian shelling destroyed residential houses, one person was wounded.

  • 6 residential buildings caught fire after the air strike (1, 2). Three-storey house was damaged, in one of the apartments 2 senior citizens were found dead. 2 more residential houses were destroyed.
  • As a result of the Russian troops shelling, private houses of the local residents were damaged. Also, according to information on the morning of April 28, the village suffered from Russian looting: Russian servicemen plundered abandoned houses and a local store.
